Government Degree College, Pathapatnam has been established in the academic year 2011-2012 in the dense population of SC,ST and BC communities. This college aims to cater to the needs of the Higher Education to the youth of this Andhra-Orissa border area. Presently this college has been affiliated to Dr B.R.Ambedkar University,Srikakulam. Now there are about 586 students studying in this college under various programs.
The strength of the college has been increasing every year because of the trustworthiness of the institution. Now this college is categorized as New Model Degree College with the grants provided by RUSA ( Rashtriya Uchhatar Siksha Abhiyan).Separate hostels have been constructed for both boys and girls each with the help of RUSA grants.
